Stage Objective(s):
- Introduction of a reasonable balance between training (60%) and competition (40%) to foster ongoing development.
- Provide age/stage appropriate competitive experiences where success and results are important but not the top priority.
- This age group will experience the most significant period of skill development as this is the window of accelerated adaptation to motor coordination – this is commonly referred to as the “Optimal Window of Trainability” (see Key Factors influencing LTPD for more detail – http://webdev.golfcanada.ca/ltpd/key-factors/). This is why a primary focus on skill development & training is so critical at this stage vs. competition.
